Plant with several bright green Shishito hot peppers

Shishito

This Capsicum Annum is originally from Japan. The name means “Lion Chili Pepper”, from shishi (lion) and togarachi (hot pepper). The peppers are 2 to 3 inches long, elongated and slightly wrinkly, with a very characteristic bulbous end.

The experience of eating Shishitos can only be described as fun. The peppers are extremely mild, except for about 1 in 15. That 1 pepper can be as hot as a Jalapeño. This results in great, low burn with amazing flavor. Deep and earthy as well as sweet, the complex flavor carries the low heat level beautifully.

UCHU Spices can bring you Shishito in many presentations for your unique products. Contact us to discuss your needs.
