Our approach to agrochemical management

Producing world-class chili peppers requires more than good seeds and good soil. It requires strict control over one of the most sensitive parts of agriculture: the responsible use of agrochemicals.

At UCHU, this is a pillar of our production system. Our customers, food manufacturers, processors, and ingredient suppliers rely on us to deliver peppers that are safe, clean, and compliant with international regulations. This blog explains how we do that.

Why agrochemical control matters

Agrochemicals play an important role in protecting crops from pests and diseases. But when misused, they can:

  • Leave residues above legal limits

  • Affect food safety

  • Create risk for consumers

  • Compromise exportability

For this reason, agrochemical management is one of the most regulated aspects of global agriculture.

UCHU aligns its practices with internationally recognized agricultural guidelines, including principles promoted by GlobalG.A.P. These provide a clear reference for safe handling, responsible use, and traceability.

Control, training, and verification

1. Approved and prohibited product lists

Each grower receives a clear list of:

  • Allowed agrochemicals (with ingredient active)

  • Products strictly prohibited for chili production

  • These lists are updated periodically based on global regulations and customer requirements.

2. Technical guidance and supervised applications

Our field technicians work directly with farmers to ensure:

  • Correct identification of products

  • Proper dosing and mixing

  • Respect for recommended intervals between applications

  • Avoidance of unnecessary mixtures or excessive use

This reduces the risk of accidental contamination.

3. Random sampling and laboratory analysis

Throughout the season, we take fruit samples from different farms to verify proper use of agrochemicals.

  • Samples are taken randomly

  • Analyzed in specialized laboratories

  • Results are reviewed with farmers

If an issue is detected, the grower is informed and corrective actions are taken.

4. Full traceability of field applications

Every farmer maintains a logbook documenting:

  • Date of application

  • Product used (active ingredient + commercial name)

  • Dose

  • Field release date

  • Observations

This allows 100% traceability from seed to harvest, a requirement for modern food supply chains.

5. Safe handling and environmental responsibility

UCHU promotes good agricultural practices inspired by global standards such as GlobalG.A.P., including:

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Safe storage of agrochemicals

  • Triple washing and perforation of empty containers

  • No reuse or disposal of containers in the field

These measures protect farmers, the crop, and the environment.

What this means for our customers

Every batch of chili we produce is safe, traceable, and compliant with global standards. Our system ensures consistent, export-ready peppers for demanding food applications.

It gives customers full confidence in every shipment they receive.
